By Matthew 10, Jesus has already demonstrated his authority over all things, and explained to his disciples what it means to be part of God’s kingdom. True disciples will share the King’s compassion and be involved in the his mission.

Here we have the King’s briefing for this mission. jesus explains the importance and characteristics of his mission, so that his discples are wise and realists. Real missionaries must expect opposition from the world which rejects the King. Jesus calls his apostles and us to be shrewd ambassadors who understand the priorities and progress of the kingdom. So fears within and conflict without should not faze the follower of Christ, whether in the 1st or 21st century.

God’s kingdom isn’t just about a slightly better life now and the vague promise of things only getting better. Matthew records Jesus teaching about the kingdom in parables. As an insider ought to know what he’s talking about and we would do well to listen.

Jesus came proclaiming the good news of God to inaugurate God’s kingdom. That gospel divides people: those who accept Jesus with joy are rejected by those who reject Jesus. So here’s what it means to be part of the kingdom of God: to suffer in the world, to have compassion on outsiders and spread the good news, and to see this world’s struggles and riches in the light of God’s eternal kingdom.

The Bible's teaching on Sex isn't an easy topic to deal with, especially in public, but Dr Philip seeks to present the Bible's teaching in a sensitive and clear way, to a society particularly obsessed with sex. There may be no more of it going on now than at other times, but it has become especially deified in our society. Simultaneously seen as the source of joy and self-worth, sexual liberation and all deviation from God's standards in this area has brought tremendous sorrow and emptiness. So what does society say about sex, and what does God say in his word the Bible about sex and about our attitudes to it? How can we think distinctively Christianly about this?

The first CD deals with the Bible’s very positive teaching on sex, explaining why it is so special and why it is so important for Christians to defend it vigorously.
The second CD focuses on a key contemporary controversial issue—homosexuality—and attempts to deal primarily with practical and pastoral issues.

Disc 1 Finding the Will of God — Are we closet Pagans?
The first message uncovers a lot of wrong thinking about finding God’s Will which can lead Christians to behave and believe like pagans. We need to know what God’s Will is, and remind ourselves that people are not the centre of the universe. Often we are so concerned about what is God’s business that we ignore what he has made our business.

Disc 2 Living by the Word of God
Having uncovered the wrong thinking, how are Christians to avoid acting like fearful pagans, and live according to God’s Will? God guides his people today through the Bible, so we need to live by his Word, already revealed, rather than seeking hidden secrets.
