Christianity Explored: Q&A

Next Evening Course Begins Thursday 2nd October 2008 at 7pm with a meal

Next 30 Minute Course Begins Thursday 2nd October 2008 at 1:10pm

What is ?

Developed over 10 years, Christianity Explored is a course for people who think they'd like to investigate Christianity, or just brush up on the basics. It explores who Jesus is, what his aims are, and what it means to follow him.

You're not asked to pray, sing or read aloud, and you can ask any question you like. Or, if you prefer, you can come along and simply listen.

Christianity Explored is a 10-week series which gets to grips with some basic issues of life and the relevance of the Christian faith. It is designed for those who want to take a closer look at Christianity.

Who is for?

Christianity Explored is for anyone who wants to investigate Christian belief with a group of other people. Whether you have previous experience of Church, Christians and the Bible, or none at all, this course is for you. Everyone is welcome. We will respect your background, culture and beliefs. Tell us as little or as much about yourself as you feel comfortable.

What goes on?

Each evening begins at 7pm with a hot meal, giving an opportunity to relax. The course is normally run in groups of 4-8 people, and after briefly discussing the course material from the week before, there is a 30 minute talk on the theme for that week. Then the groups discuss any questions that have arisen, and the evening winds up around 9pm. Of course, you're welcome to stick around a bit longer for a coffee and to discuss any further issues you might have.

Can I pull out if I want to?

Of course you can. Bring along your doubts and questions but feel free to leave the course at any time.

How much does it cost?

Nothing, but an opportunity will be given for those who wish to contribute towards the cost (£3) of the meal that will be provided.

Do I have to bring anything?

No. All the course materials are provided.

Is it "Churchy"?

No. This is one of the reasons that the course takes place at a "neutral" venue. It is not a church service. There will be no praying, singing or clapping and you won't be asked to read aloud.

Am I going to get preached at?

Each evening includes a talk designed to explain an aspect of Christian belief and to stimulate discussion. Hopefully you'll find it stimulating. Group leaders will facilitate discussion and try to answer questions. You will not have to speak in the group if you don't want to. You are welcome to come and just sit and listen.
