More about our small groups

Why do we have small groups?

  • Fellowship: St George’s-Tron is a church gathered from all four corners of Glasgow (and beyond). It is important that as members of the body of Christ we meet together to encourage each other.
  • Pastoral Care: In small groups we are well placed to look after each other, and care for each other.
  • Prayer: Small groups are an opportunity to share more personal needs and requests, and to pray for each other.
  • Accountability: How well are you doing in your Christian life? Having a small group who knows you well can help you keep on track.
  • Bible Study: It is often easier to talk about your faith in small groups. It also helps to discuss with others to make sure you understand and apply the teaching we receive on Sundays.

What types of small group are there?

Some people feel that small groups are not for them, but we do hope that you will join a small group. Don’t just consider what you might receive from being a member of a small group. Just as importantly, ask “What could I contribute to a group?” Being an individual, isolated Christian is not a biblical model… we need each other!

Can I change groups?

Yes! You might start in a Discipleship Explored group and move on to an All Age Small Group, or you might try a couple of groups before you find one that you feel comfortable in.

However, once you settle on a group we ask you to be committed to meeting regularly with the group.

Where can I go?

You are welcome to join a group in any area. We have indicated where the groups meet so that you can choose a group near your home if you wish. Look at the diagram overleaf to see what type of groups meet where, when and what they will be studying this term.

Interested?

Phone the contact number for the group you are interested in. If you need some help deciding which group would suit you best, phone or e-mail the Church Office (0141 332 2795).
