About the website and how to use it
The design of the website has completely changed. Much of the information on the old website is still available, but it has been reorganised and much new has been added. Here are a few tips for finding your way around and using the new site.
Target Audience / Purpose
Church members - to enhance communication between church members, regarding news, events, prayer matters and smaller group activities, and to build up the church through media distribution and other resources.
- We anticipate the news, events, groups, media and forum areas may be particularly useful for this, backed up by other resources.
|
Non-church members - to inform about the church and the good news of Jesus Christ, and to proclaim and reinforce the trustworthy message God has for all people everywhere.
- Visitors to Glasgow may find the information about the church helpful.
- We anticipate that the media (sermons online) and resources may also be helpful.

If there is anything you feel may be vital or important yet absent from the website, why not send us a message? (If you're a church member be prepared to be asked to help do whatever you're suggesting!) If there's anything wrong or disfunctional on the website, again please tell us so we can fix it as soon as possible.
How the Site is Organised
- The site has been reorganised into several major sections which seem to make a bit more sense for the people using the site now.
- About the church: aimed largely at visitors, or people wanting to contact the church. (not updated too frequently)
- News & events: very frequently updated information particularly useful to members - like an electronic version of the Sunday notice sheets.
- Groups: pages particularly about individual small groups - whether age, interest or area-related. Useful for newcomers working out how to fit in, or members communicating and checking up on activities they're interested in. Quite frequently updated.
- Resources: both for members and others, some useful Bible-related resources for building up Christians. Quite frequently updated.
- Media: recordings of services online, and the means to order/browse recordings on CD. Very frequently updated.
- Mission: some information about gospel mission around and away from Glasgow.
- Forum: discussion between members in the main, though some discussion boards which may be interesting to others are open to non-members. Anyone can sign up. Contact the church office to confirm if you are a member so you can be given permission to access the members-only areas.
- Admin: a secure area for church members contributing to the website to use. The username and password here are completely separate from the Forum ones. Not too many people are given responsibility for updating the website to avoid chaos!

How to Find Your Way Around
- At the top there's a navigation bar, including these elements:
- Tron logo - click this to go back to the main front page.
- This Section title - the same heading is used describing the whole section (as explained to the left).
- Search box - type something in here and press the enter key and google will search the site for you. This doesn't search exhaustively, and may omit news & events in particular. We'll work on improving this.
- Section headings/tabs - click on one of the (colour coded) sections to see the front page of that section.
- Below the section tabs there's a horizontal list of (almost) all the pages in the currently-open section. Click on a page to go to it. The current page is marked bold on this navigation bar.
- Frequently, especially on front pages of sections, there is a sidebar on the right, giving snippets of content that might be especially useful, or a flavour of what is contained in the section.
- Many of the navigation links are repeated at the bottom of the page for convenience, though few pages are very long.
- What's the design goal?
- Make it easy to navigate quickly to relevant information whether you're familiar with the website organisation or not, but without cluttering or complicating the design too much.
- Suggestions?

Who's responsible
- David Rowbory has set up the website, drawing on the expertise of many in the church.
- Most members of the staff team of St George's-Tron and the Epaphras Trust have contributed content and advice.
- Many from the church family are going to have to keep contributing to the site to keep it working well. You could ask for more details of how things are updated and how you could help.
